How we help first home buyers
Every first home buyer’s situation is different: your income, savings, the state you’re buying in and the type of property all change which loans and support are available. We start with a free conversation to understand your goals, then show you a clear path to getting the keys.
- Budget and borrowing power: what you can comfortably afford, not just the maximum a bank will lend.
- Deposit options: saving strategies, family guarantees and government schemes where eligible.
- Pre-approval: so you can bid and negotiate with confidence.
- Through to settlement: we coordinate with your lender, conveyancer and agent.
Common questions
How much deposit do I need for my first home?
It depends on the lender, the property and whether you are eligible for a government scheme. Some buyers can purchase with a smaller deposit, sometimes without paying lenders mortgage insurance. We will work through what applies to you.
What grants and concessions can I get?
First home buyer grants, stamp duty concessions and federal deposit schemes vary by state and change over time. We check current eligibility for your situation as part of our free strategy call.
Should I get pre-approval before house hunting?
Usually, yes. Pre-approval gives you a realistic budget and shows agents you are a serious buyer. We help you choose a lender whose pre-approval suits your plans.
Does it cost me anything to use a broker?
Usually not. Brokers are typically paid a commission by the lender when your loan settles. If a fee ever applies, it is set out in a Credit Quote before we apply for finance. Our Credit Guide explains how we are paid.
